Data loss is very sensitive topic and it depends on many factors in your environment. Sometimes it can be done very easy and sometimes it is just impossible. The reason lays in fact that all kind of physical memory can be damaged in many kinds of ways. The boot sectors may be deleted but the files are still there, optical disc may be scratched on surface or magnet disc may be dropped down from 10th floor where data recovery is almost impossible.  It’s a very rare thing but really, physical memory can be broken down and data recovery is out of question but in most cases with useful tools you can find here and little knowledge you can easily recover your data.

Backup is one very important thing. Everybody knows what backup is but just in case you don’t, backup is process when you save your data to other location just in case first location is unavailable. This means that copying your hard disc data from time to time to other hard disc or other type of physical memory is backup process. Your system of backup may include optical storage like CD’s, DVD’s, HD-DVD’s, Blu-Ray’s , magnet tapes, chips, flash, solid state, magnet drives and other types of popular storage technologies. You have to choose what is best for you and repeat process on daily, weekly or monthly basis. This whole story about backup is important because if you have backup you don’t need recovery at all.

Take job in your hands with retrieving your data or pay professional company to do it? If you have good technical knowledge you better do it yourself because you will save lots of money. But if you are not familiar with all kinds of operating system, memory and data structure things don’t try it because it is very possible that you will fail.

Your operating system has got some tools for data recovery. Almost all newer operating systems have sophisticated tools that manage logical or human errors and keep your system clean. It is easier if you use professional software for data recovery because it works above operating system, not forwarding system calls for data management but controlling the data flows itself. If you don’t manage to rescue your files with operating system tools browse and install some of professional programs which will help you if you use them wisely.
